Jason (and GNOME Do) needs your help

Jason Smith, long-time GNOME Do contributor and maintainer since the 0.6 release, needs some help:

Well something bad has happened; my laptop has broken (my own fault I am afraid), and along with it my ability to hack on GNOME Do. We have been going strong for over a year now producing some kick ass software together. Between myself, David, the rest of the dev team, and tens of thousands of users, we have created something pretty amazing. I would like to keep creating it too!

So I need your help. I am just a college student, I do not have the means on my own to replace a laptop. So I am asking for help in the form of monetary donations. I need to replace that laptop to continue work on Do, and to continue work in school. To be frank, the ability to hack on Do, any time, any where is what makes it possible to get anything done.

If you like GNOME Do, and have a couple bucks to spare, please consider donating! You can paypal me at jassmith@gmail.com or contact me for other means of donation. I will be purchasing an HP dv5t since they seem to be hitting a pretty decent price point right now. As well, I will only be accepting donations to pay for a base model acceptable for Do development. Anything upgrades I need after that (like to run class software) I will attempt to pay for through other means.

Do started as a student-driven project, and it is my hope that it remains student-driven. Many of the students currently working on Do are working their way through school with lots of debt. Jason has been doing some amazing work since he joined the project, and with his help Do has become one of the most beloved programs on the GNU/Linux desktop. If every active Do user were to donate a dime, Jason could buy a new laptop - and probably pay off his student loans for that matter! Please visit Jason’s blog to donate, or at least to offer words of support.

Thank you,
David
